Germny to Help Pakistan Streamline Its TVET Sector with the International Lavor Market

Mr. Muhammad Usman Dar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs, along with Syed Zulfikar Bukhari, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Resource Development & Overseas Pakistanis, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Martin Kobler, German Ambassador to Pakistan, in order to figure out human resource needs of the international labor market so that Pakistan could align its technical and vocational training system with the current and emerging skill sets required by the industry in labor- destination countries in the Gulf, European Union and the Far East Asia. It was highlighted in the meeting that Pakistan is one of the top human resource surplus countries in the world. It is high time to invest in the technical and vocational training of the youth as per the need of international job market to export our surplus human resource to target destinations in the Gulf region, European Union countries especially Germany, Far East Asian countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Korea and Japan. It was also highlighted that Pakistan can greatly benefit from the proposed German law on the easy immigration of skilled workforce if it invests aggressively in training its youth in high end technologies. This new immigration law is expected to be in force by 2020. Moreover, it was agreed upon that Pakistan should also invest in training its abundant human resources in CPEC related industries to meet their workforce demand. These Government interventions in human resource development will not only make the TVET sector demand and quality driven, but will also lead to creation of job opportunities for the youth not only in the domestic but international job market. Mr. Muhammad Usman Dar thanked the German Ambassador for his valuable input in developing an effective TVET sector in Pakistan which would be responsive to the emerging needs of the labor market for creating better opportunities for youth empowerment and engagement.
